Testing the data download range of Lotek’s MiniTrack GPS collar
On April 12, 2010, Lotek Wireless engineers Jelena and Adrian tested the data downloading range of the MiniTrack GPS collar on a road near Newmarket, Ontario. Range specifications for this collar are 500m, line of sight. Actualy ranges will depend upon species, terrain and canopy; their tests on this day exceeded the 500m distance significantly. The video gives a good visual sense of the type of range at which data from these collars can be downloaded.
